WhatsApp

APX links to WhatsApp the way WhatsApp Web does: as a linked device of a number, scanned with a QR. It isn’t the WhatsApp Business API, and there’s no bot account to create.

A line of its own (the default). A second number, used only by your agent. You write to it from your own phone, like you’d write to an assistant. This is the setup most people want: your agent has its own chats, and yours stay yours.

Your own number. Turn on This line is my own phone and you talk to your agent in WhatsApp’s “Message yourself” chat. What you type to other people on your phone stays yours: APX never answers in your name there.

You can switch later with the same toggle in the channel’s settings.

  1. Open Settings › Channels, use Add channel and pick WhatsApp (or open it directly if it’s the first).

  2. Choose Who answers, and set This line is my own phone if you’re linking your own number.

  3. Press Link. A QR shows up; it changes every few seconds and the page keeps it fresh.

  4. On the phone that has the number: WhatsApp › Settings › Linked devices › Link a device, and point it at the code.

The status turns to Connected. WhatsApp support loads the first time you link it, so that first connection can take a moment.

On a line of its own, APX doesn’t know which number is you until you tell it. Until then, what you write to the line is a stranger’s. Two ways, under Your phone:

  • Write to the line from your own WhatsApp. The request shows up in the list; tap It’s my number. WhatsApp shows the number, so no code is needed.
  • Add my number: type it with the country code (+1 555 0100) and press Save.

Once linked, your messages go to Home, or to a chat of their own if you set Your messages to Own chat.

On your own number there’s nothing to link: whoever writes in “Message yourself” is you.

APX reads one-to-one chats. Groups, broadcasts and WhatsApp channels are ignored. Voice notes in private chats are transcribed (see Voice notes), and options the agent offers you arrive as a numbered list: answer with the number.

Strangers work as on every channel (Send a code, Ask me, Answer, Ignore), with one difference on your own number: APX never sends a code from it. There, the first option is List them: the person is listed in the channel’s settings for you to approve, and nothing is sent to them.

Ask me is often the most comfortable on WhatsApp: you get a notice with who wrote, their number and their first message. Say yes (the button, or tell your agent) and that first message is answered.

  • If WhatsApp logs the device out (you removed it from Linked devices, for example), APX deletes the stored session and the channel shows an error. Press Link again and scan a new code.
  • Unlink WhatsApp removes the channel and its session folder.
